THE VATICAN, November 7, 2025 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, inaugurated the exhibition “Bethlehem Reborn” at the Vatican yesterday. The event was organized in cooperation between the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine and the Embassy of the State of Palestine to the Holy See.

Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian Authority, clarified a succession plan after more than two decades in control. He said if he vacated his role, his deputy would rule for a short period until elections could be held.

The President arrived at the Italian Prime Minister’s office, where he was received by Prime Minister Meloni and several senior Italian officials and inspected a guard of honor assembled to welcome him.

President Mahmoud Abbas told President Sergio Mattarella in talks at the presidential Quririnale Palace Friday that Palestinians wanted to live alongside Israel and so the Jewish State must now recognise Palestine as a country.

The Gaza Strip must be transferred to the control of legitimate Palestinian authorities, and Israeli plans for temporary control of the enclave are unacceptable, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told Russia's RIA news agency in remarks published on Tuesday.
