The local governments in the National Capital Region (NCR) are now gearing up for the impact of the potential super typhoon Uwan, Metro Manila Council (MMC) president and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said Friday.
Tropical Storm Fung-Wong (to be named Uwan once it enters the country) is expected to strengthen into a super typhoon this weekend. In its latest bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) noted the storm is moving northwest at 10 kilometers per hour with winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gusts reaching 90 kph.
