The 49ers made a controversial decision on Tuesday. They chose not to get anyone at the NFL's trade deadline despite obvious and glaring needs on their defense after losing Mykel Williams, Nick Bosa and Fred Warner for the season. This decision did not go over well inside the 49ers' building, according to The Athletic's Michael Silver.

Despite a wave of injuries to key position groups, San Francisco has persevered and is right in the thick of an ultra-competitive NFC West. Somewhat ironically, running back Christian McCaffrey has remained healthy throughout the season. The All-Pro leads the NFL in yards from scrimmage.

The 49ers are one of six teams that are interested in him. So, he will not join the team in Week 10, and will not be able to choose his team fast enough to sign in Week 11. At the earliest, he would be able to suit up for the 49ers for Week 12.

The San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday added some internal defensive line depth. According to an announcement from the team, veteran defensive lineman Andrew Farmer II was signed to their practice squad. Undrafted rookie linebacker Stone Blanton was released from the practice squad in a corresponding move.

The Rams only listed three players on Wednesday’s initial injury report, including Puka Nacua and Darious Williams.
