RALEIGH — There was magic in the air of Carter-Finley Stadium on Saturday night. Without star tight end Justin Joly and standout running back Hollywood Smothers, NC State (5-4, 2-3 ACC) stunned No. 8 Georgia Tech (8-1, 5-1 ACC) in a 48-36 shootout.
Four starters, including Hollywood Smothers, were listed as questionable on the ACC availability report on Thursday and Friday.
With only 3 returning players from last season, there was a big need to bring in some talent and experience. Damon Stoudamire ended up bringing in 4 new faces to supplement the roster, a few of which should play significant roles this season.
