TOKYO (AP) — Toyota reported a 7% year-on-year drop in profit for April-September on Wednesday, as U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs slammed Japanese automakers. Net profit for the April-September period at Toyota Motor Corp. totaled 1.77 trillion yen ($11.5 billion), down from 1.9 trillion yen a year earlier.

The first Toyota EV with solid-state batteries is just a few years away, and it’s bound to be something special, maybe an electric successor to the Lexus LFA.

Toyota is selling cars faster than it can build them. With strong demand for hybrids, the company says it can “barely cover the demand.” After reporting its fiscal second-quarter earnings on Wednesday, Toyota raised its sales and earnings forecast for the year.

Toyota, Honda and Suzuki are spending billions of dollars to build new cars and factories in India, a sign of the country's growing importance as a manufacturing hub as Japanese automakers redraw global supply chains to reduce dependence on China.

The more expensive trim is almost as pricy as the Highlander, but at least there's a new two-tone paint option on offer.

Now, that’s all well and good, but Toyota would never stuff such a potent powertrain in a normal Tundra. It simply wouldn’t make sense… unless Toyota is still quietly working on its factory Tundra desert runner.

The 2026 Toyota 4Runner will arrive at dealerships this fall with a base price of $41,570. That’s $800 more than its predecessor, while the destination fee also climbs from $1,450 to $1,495.
