Canucks brace for Nathan MacKinnon, high-octane Avalanche
Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche will look to extend their respective point streaks on Sunday night when they visit the Vancouver Canucks. MacKinnon pushed his point streak to eight games after collecting two goals and two assists in Colorado's 9-1 romp over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.
The Colorado Avalanche have been linked to a potential blockbuster trade that would see them reunite with a Stanley Cup champion.
Nathan MacKinnon had two goals and two assists, Cale Makar, Parker Kelly and Jack Drury also scored twice and the Western Conference-leading Colorado Avalanche embarrassed the Edmonton Oilers 9-1 on Saturday night.
It’s a pretty simple argument to make, but the Colorado Avalanche is the best team in the NHL right now.
The Colorado Avalanche (8-1-5) visit the Edmonton Oilers (6-5-4) at Rogers Place on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 10 p.m. ET, airing on ESPN+. The matchup features two of the NHL's best offensive options in Nathan MacKinnon (10 goals and 10 assists) and Connor McDavid (four goals and 17 assists).
“We’re not even close,” Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch said. “There’s a team that’s playing really well, and we’re not. That’s just not one game. If you look at the last five weeks, they’ve been going pretty well. We haven’t. Right now, we’ve got a lot of work to do.”
Olofsson gave the Avalanche a 3-0 with his first goal of the season and first tally as an Avs player via a right-circle wrist shot at 2:31 of the second period. Jack Ahcan picked up his first-career NHL assist with the primary helper on the goal.
